That’s son hoisting Big Dummy prototype, almost as excited as I was. What is it about handling a bare frame that’s so nice? The lightness? It’s always more astonishing with Xtracyclical frames like this.
I’m in a hurry to build it up. I’m likely to migrate over all the parts from the original “Super Monkey” I blogged last August. That is, unless you live nearby and want to swoop in and make an offer to take said Super Monkey in the next few days. I don’t have room for more bikes. Life is so hard.

Be careful, Todd – there are hordes of riders out there who would commit terrible deeds to get their hands on the Dummy this early. Watch your back!

I like the great ideas you are blogging about. The frame is incredible, how old the boy holding it, cause it looks heavy, but obviously not too heavy.

He is 4.5 and in his own words “verrrrrry strong!”. For a long frame the big dummy is surprisingly light – I can comfortably lift it with one hand.

You’d better keep that thing locked up. I’d like to think of myself as an honest person, but there are certain temptations that can cause even the strongest to waver. Fortunately for both of us, you’re two time zones away. :)
Todd, I dropped you a note some time back looking for some info on the progress of Stokemonkey’s compatibility with the Big Dummy. I assume this is your first chance to get some hands-on design work underway, and I look forward to hearing back from you.

So is that “Summer” release date for the Big Dummy framesets real? Anyone have any insights into what the availability is going to be? Can they be ordered yet? I think they (Surly) are going to get swarmed.. there’s a lot of people who’re pretty damn excited about these frames.

Sorry.. went off half-cocked without checking the Surlyblog… but this wait fot the Big Dummy is pure torture. I’ve never been this excited to get my hands on a frame, except for when I got my first xtracycle. I have to forcibly make myself not think about the creaminess of a purpose built longtail that isn’t a custom or one-off. Oy…
