Clever Cycles Stealth Pantaloons
These are our very own 100% worsted wool trousers, cut and sewn for riding bicycles and other low-stress activities, but also fine for job interviews, weddings, funerals, competitive yoga, and power naps. They can pass as dress pants, with the finest hard-wearing drapey wool we can source, but have none of the fussy, sweat-unfriendly features of business wear.
Neither hot nor heavy, these are meant to be worn alone in warm months, and with long wool underwear underneath October-May in the Pacific Northwest and cooler climes.
One of us rode to San Francisco this August in temps ranging from 45 to 95F wearing no other trousers: perfect. They are meant to fit loose for great freedom of movement, with an elastic band at the back of the waist. Men and women like them alike, but if you want to show off any curves, go down a size. They are hemmed on the long side, easy to take up but possible to let out another inch. You won’t be able to step on the heels even if way too long, because the lower leg is cut pretty narrow to stay out of chain’s way, at least mostly. A chain guard, case or a trouser clip or strap is still advisable.Introduced in early 2010 as Belmont Stealth Pantaloons, each production run with new fabric, features or price point bears a name of its own following streets in our town. We use and recommend Kookaburra Wash for just about all clothing, but especially wool.Sewn in Los Angeles by Bicycle Fixation just for us. See our introductory post for more info.
