Linus

Linus is a new company making an old kind of bike. We saw them first at the September 2009 Interbike trade show. They popped like a bowl of oatmeal in a skittles factory: soul-satisfying classic lines, decent city feature set, parts and build quality at fantastic prices. Just add lights and lock!

  • Mix of cro-mo and hi-ten steel tubing, partially lugged; i.e., better than their historical models that have been rolling around for 40-60 years or so
  • Shimano 3-speed internal hub gearing. Enough for the East side unless you’re hauling passengers, and all but the worst of the West.
  • Tektro sidepull hand brakes
  • Match-finished steel fenders. Class.
  • Rear rack, pretty
  • Kickstand, naturally
  • Full or partial chain guard, ah
  • Bell, charming
  • Leather grips, really
  • 1 or 2 sizes fit most, thanks to moderate to totally upright geometry
  • Made in China, like 95% of new bikes sold in America today
