Elegant upgrade plus tail light leads
Great upgrade for the weight-conscious ebiker who wants an elegant solution. At 80 lumens this is about the brightest bike light in the B&M line, particularly for night riding. The light pattern is much wider but the high lumen count is so great that it's a huge step up and easily more visible in daylight running than my old 6V rechargeable flasher. While the IQ2 EYC has more daytime visibility from its Licht24 daytime running lights pattern, the better price, weight, simplicity and availability make this model an excellent choice. The light includes short 6V leads for connection to your tail light. While any 6V DC tail light will work, check out the B&M Line for an excellent match. The package also includes a clear reflector (required in Germany for its intended ebike class) about 1 sq inch in size; this fits right under the light housing, on the same mounting bolt, if you choose to use it.
Installation with the included bracket is straightforward, especially if you just use your fork's center bolt. I opted to mount it higher on my MTB stem riser, putting the light's on-off switch in easy reach. This allows me to use the unswitched 24V leads off my ebike controller - or you could tap into your ebike battery directly. The 6V leads for tail light are on the same switch, so when you turn your headlight on & off you are also controlling your tail light. The main leads for the headlight are only a couple feet long: with a step-thru bike, long stem, and rearward battery pack, I needed 3 feet extra wire to reach the battery pack.
