If you write a haiku on a theme of autumnal/wintry Portland bikey love, put it on the social media of your choice tagging us, and then come tell us about it, we will let you take a scratch card giving you 10-40% off everything, capped at $1000 off! Who says poetry doesn't pay? One per customer. In-stock items only. Expires at close of business that day, until 24 December. Non-transferable, not to be combined with other offers or literary forms. NO LIMERICKS! Some inspiration is here on the Cycles of Life blog.
Rental fleet sale
Only once a year, every year, we sell used bikes on Black Friday. Each of our rental bikes have made many dozens of Portland visitors happy in 2014's warmer months. Instead of putting them into hibernation, we tune them up and sell them. Our rental fleet includes Bromptons, very rarely found used in good shape much below retail. For this reason mainly, there's always a line outside our door when we open that day. First come, first serve, in-store sales only. Prices will be set only the day before, and disclosed only in person.
In addition to Bromptons (M and H type, 6-speed, dynamo lights!), our fleet includes the last beloved Bakfiets.nl Cargobike we may ever sell, as our supply chain pivots to the WorkCycles Kr8 as current best-in-class. There's a Yuba Mundo equipped with Nuvinci hub and dynamo lights, a couple WorkCycles Omas, and several Breezer Uptown 8s at rock-bottom prices, outstanding value for no-nonsense transportation.
Staff bikes on the block
In addition to our rental fleet, Clever staff are selling off some of our excess personal bikes. Don't think kickstands and fenders and bells up the wazoo: We weren't always the way we are now, bike-wise. Same loves, different lives! A gallery of most of these bikes is below.
How about Todd's 1997 Waterford-built Rivendell Road, 57cm with funky-functional parts mix including drillium triple crank? How about a full custom 1999 fillet-brazed Sycip all-rounder with S&S couplings and Schmidt dyno, Campy cranks, Phil and King and Nitto and Paul and eccentric BB and ... currently set up as a flip-flop? 90's Specialized Stumpjumper Comp frameset in Tange Prestige, hot pink and 22"?
Eva's offering up her Cannondale Synapse Carbon Feminine 5, 54cm, 2009. Fast and light: does not accept kickstand or full fenders, but rides like a thoroughbred out the gate. Just tuned with new cables, housing and bar tape. She's also selling her single speed steel road machine, reliable and fun, suited up with fenders, kickstand, bell, front basket, tasteful pink bling and one gear for extra freedom.
Dean's polishing up his Surly Karate Monkey Xtracycle kid/cargo machine, purpose built and ready to ride. Spec'd to the gills with dynamo lights, 11-sp Alfine internal gear hub, and kiddo-ready stoker bar. Todd recalls that Dean was carrying his daughter on the back in 2006 when we spotted a For Lease sign in the 900 Hawthorne building. That same daughter later enjoyed a Batavus kid's bike, full-featured Dutch in 20" wheel size: dynamo lights, 3-speed internal, chaincase, rear rack, hand and coaster brakes. Finally there's a Specialized Epic Marathon full suspension mountain bike, so squishy. Please, take me to the mountains!
