Daily Battery Charging
Lithium-ion batteries last a long time, but there are certain things you can do to extend the service life. Even if you’re not using the ebike, it will eventually lose capacity over time.Â
Follow these tips to make sure your Bosch ebike battery lasts as long as possible and is able to be charged safely:
Â
- Only use an authentic Bosch charger that is compatible with your Bosch ebike system.
- Charge your ebike battery in a dry location that has a functional smoke detector.
- Charge the battery at room temperature whenever possible.
- Once the battery is charged, disconnect the charger from the battery. Do not continuously keep the battery on the charger for long periods of time.
- Charge the battery before draining it completely whenever possible.Â
- The battery can be connected to the charger at any charge level. You can remove the battery from the charger at any point without damage to the battery.
- Excessive heat can damage the battery. Charge in the shade or in a cool room and avoid direct sunlight while charging whenever possible.
- The Bosch Battery Management System will protect the battery from charging in excessive heat to ensure safe operation.
- When temperatures are below freezing, charge the battery at room temperature and then insert it on your ebike immediately before riding.
- If you need to store your battery for longer periods of time, Bosch recommends a charge level of 30-60% at room temperature in a dry environment.
