What are your holiday hours?

We are open 360 days a year. Weekdays 11-5, weekends 11-5. We are closed on January 1st and 2nd, February 6th, 4th of July, Non-Canadian Thanksgiving, and December 25th. We close at 2pm on December 24th and 31st.

Buying a Bike

I want a bike. I haven't ridden much in years. Should I bring my partner who is an avid cyclist?

We'll do our best to work with you while diverting avid types. We're not a shop for "avid cyclists" but for everyday riders. We'll help you find a bike that works for you—your test ride is the best way to decide!

What size bike fits me?

A bike fits if the saddle allows your knees to be nearly straight at full pedal extension. We'll guide you toward a comfortable fit through test rides and adjustments.

Do you do fittings?

Yes and no. We offer basic adjustments and problem-solving based on your needs but don’t provide advanced performance fittings with measurements or formulas.

Returns and Policies

What if I buy something and decide to return it? By mail?

Returns are accepted within 30 days (excluding certain items). Returns by mail require prior authorization. Items must be in new condition with original packaging and receipt. A 2.5% fee may apply to refunded credit card payments.

What if I buy something and it goes on sale right afterward?

If we lower the price within 30 days of your purchase, bring your receipt, and we’ll issue store credit for the difference.

Service and Maintenance

Do I get special service deals if I buy my bike from you?

Bikes purchased from Clever Cycles come with priority discounted service, a free 30-day safety check, and free simple adjustments for the first year.

I think this thing might be broken.

We honor manufacturer warranties on items we sell. Claims within one year of purchase incur no labor or shipping charges. Contact us for warranty support.

Online Shopping

Everything I want is online. Is my info safe if I buy through your site?

We use SSL encryption for secure transactions. If you prefer, all online products are available in our physical store.

Do you offer financing?

Yes! We offer financing options to spread the cost of quality bikes, including e-bikes and cargo bikes, over up to 12 months.

Test Rides

Is there a safe place to test ride your bikes?

Yes. We recommend nearby calm streets or scenic areas like Ladd's Addition for a safe and enjoyable test ride experience.

Product Types

So you sell cruisers?

We don't sell traditional beach cruisers. Most of our bikes feature swept handlebars for upright posture and comfort, ideal for urban transportation.

Tell me about Dutch bikes.

We started with Dutch bikes due to their utility and durability. While we offer lighter alternatives better suited for Portland's terrain, we remain inspired by the Netherlands' cycling culture.

Used Bikes

Do you sell used bikes? What about trade-ins?

Maybe! Check our Sell or Trade-In page or current inventory. Community Cycling Center and Sellwood Cyclery are other great options.

Pricing

What's the discount for floor models or accessories if I buy a bike?

We are not a discounter. Our prices are pre-haggled to support our staff and ensure excellent service. Shop-worn items may be discounted as marked.
