Storing a cargo bike at home has never been easier. All you need is enough space for a potted plant. The Tern GSD R14 is the same length as a regular bike, and you can store it vertically because the rear rack doubles as a sturdy stand. When standing on its end, it takes up about as much space as a coat rack. The handlebar folds neatly out of the way. It’s designed to carry up to two kids, so it does the work of a full size longtail without the footprint. Well-thought-out kid and cargo accessories make it all the more useful.

The GSD R14 is the latest bike in the GSD family. Like every GSD model, it’s equipped with a Bosch mid drive motor capable of up to 85 nM of torque and up to 400% support, but only the R14 is equipped with a Rohloff E-14 Speedhub. The internally-geared Rohloff E-14 Speedhub has a gear range of 526% and automatically downshifts to a preset gear for you at stop lights. The optional 1000 Wh dual battery system offers a range of up to 128 miles on a single charge. The GSD R14 has a strong and sturdy frame that is drilled to accept trailers from Weber, Burley, and Thule. With a max gross weight capacity of 440 pounds, the GSD R14 is ready to haul whatever you need to, and the 20-inch wheels keep the cargo close to the ground, which is good for handling.

Thanks to its unique geometry, the GSD R14 fits a wide range of riders comfortably. Specially-designed rims and boost thru-axle hubs provide a rock solid foundation for hauling cargo. A suspension fork and seatpost absorb bumps in the road. Beefy tires offer added cushion with the reliability of reinforced sidewalls and Schwalbe’s GreenGuard puncture protection. The reflective sidewall strip on the tires helps with visibility. Commuters will love the low-maintenance belt drive, hi/lo beam headlight, rear brake light, auto locking kickstand, cafe lock, and upright riding position that allows them to see and be seen a little easier. A full chain guard protects the rider, passenger, and cargo from getting near the drive train, and an integrated wheel guard keeps little feet out of the spokes. The GSD R14 is suitable for adult passengers. We recommend the captain's chair with the cargo hold panniers in the rear position so you have ample room for feet up front with a passenger on board.
