Portland's Authorized Gazelle E-Bike Dealer: Expert Guidance from Clever Cycles

We have carried Gazelle e-bikes at Clever Cycles for years because they represent exactly what a serious urban cyclist needs: Dutch engineering built for daily use, not weekend recreation. Gazelle has been manufacturing bicycles in the Netherlands since 1892, and that heritage shows in every weld, every cable routing decision, and every component choice. These are not fitness bikes with a motor bolted on, they are purpose-built transportation machines.

As an authorized Gazelle dealer in Portland, we stock, service, and stand behind every bike we sell. That means Bosch-trained mechanics, genuine Gazelle parts, and warranty support handled directly through us, not through a shipping label and a call center.

Why Gazelle Works So Well in Portland

Portland's riding conditions are specific. You have the West Hills if you live in Hillsdale, Multnomah Village, or anywhere west of the Willamette. You have the long flat stretches of the Springwater Corridor and the Eastside esplanade. And you have nine months of rain, wet leaves, and low-light mornings that demand reliable lighting and confident braking.

Gazelle bikes are designed for exactly this kind of riding. The integrated lighting systems run off the motor battery — no AA batteries, no forgetting to charge a separate headlight. The hydraulic disc brakes on models like the Ultimate C380 HMB handle rain without the squeal and fade you get from rim brakes. The step-through and low-step frame options make mounting and dismounting easy when you are wearing work clothes or carrying a bag.

The Bosch motor systems Gazelle uses are tuned for a natural pedaling feel rather than the aggressive surge you get from some other ebike motors.

Test Ride a Gazelle at Our Hawthorne Shop

We strongly encourage test rides before any e-bike purchase. The geometry, the motor feel, and the weight distribution of a Gazelle are things you need to experience — reading specs only tells part of the story. Our shop at 900 SE Hawthorne Blvd has a route we use for test rides that includes a real hill, a flat stretch, and a stop-and-go section so you can evaluate the motor response in actual Portland conditions.

Test rides are free. We ask that you bring a valid ID. Helmets are available to borrow at the shop. No appointment is required, though calling ahead on weekends ensures we have the specific model you want to try available and charged.

Financing and Pricing

Gazelle e-bikes range from approximately $2,600 for the Medeo T9 to $5,500 and above for fully-equipped Ultimate models. We offer financing through Synchrony

Oregon's E-Bike Rebate Program has rebates of up to $1600 on qualifying e-bikes for income-eligible residents.

Purchases at Clever Cycles earn rewards points you can apply toward future service, accessories, or parts — another reason buying local pays off over the life of the bike.

Service and Long-Term Ownership

Owning a Gazelle long-term is straightforward because the bikes are designed for it. The internally geared hubs require less adjustment than the frequent derailleur tuning a typical bike needs. The belt drive models eliminate chain replacement entirely. We stock Gazelle-specific parts and Bosch battery and motor components, so you are not waiting weeks for a part to ship from overseas.

We offer a free 30-day service on every e-bike we sell. After the first month of riding, cables stretch, brake pads seat in, and shifting needs a small adjustment. Bringing the bike back in is part of the purchase, not an add-on.
