This Brompton derailleur cable anchorage and spring set is the small but necessary hardware that lets the post-2017 underbar, integrated shifter drive your 2 or 6 speed derailleur correctly. It clamps the gear cable at the derailleur end and provides the return spring tension that keeps shifts crisp and repeatable.
If you are upgrading from the older overbar or pre-2017 shifters, your existing anchorage will not work with the new lever. This part is required when moving from overbar to underbar shifter on a bike with a 2 speed chain pusher. Swapping to this set ensures the cable is routed and anchored the way the new shifter expects, so gears line up cleanly without guesswork or improvised hardware.
