Description
The right-length chain for any 1-, 2-, 3- or 6-speed Brompton (A Line and C Line, old or new), without paying for a Brompton box. This is the same 3/32-inch, 8-speed-width chain the hub-gear Bromptons take; we buy it from KMC in bulk and cut each one to your bike's exact link count before it ships.
How it works
- Count two numbers on your bike: the teeth on your chainring (usually stamped on it — 44T, 50T or 54T) and the teeth on your largest rear sprocket.

- We cut it to that length in our workshop and ship it ready to fit. It comes with a KMC MissingLink, so it goes on without a chain tool.

What to expect in the box
This is bulk chain. It arrives in a plain bag — no retail packaging, no printed instructions. It's the same chain KMC sells at retail; you're just not paying for the packaging.
Fit new sprockets at the same time
Chain and sprockets wear into each other, and a new chain on a worn sprocket might skip under load. Brompton recommends replacing the rear sprocket (or the 2- and 6-speed pair) with the chain. The chainring lasts several chains and only needs replacing if its teeth are visibly hooked.
Have an older 1/8-inch chain? Early 1- and 3-speed Bromptons shipped with a wider chain, but this 3/32-inch chain fits every A Line and C Line. If you'd rather stay with 1/8″, let us know.
Riding a P Line, T Line or a 2026-on 4/12-speed C Line? Those take the narrower SL Advance chain. A G Line takes a 9-speed chain — see the KMC X9 bulk chain, cut to length the same way.
