Riders who want Brompton portability but prefer the comfort and control of a larger-wheeled bike. Whether you’re commuting across town, linking up train rides, or heading out on weekend trails, the G Line folds down small enough to carry inside yet rides like a full-sized machine once it’s open.

Pure Brompton

Born from London’s need for a practical fold-and-go bike, Brompton builds for daily use, tight storage, and lasting serviceability. The G Line keeps that mission but adds a more traditional ride, gearing, and sizing for riders who don't require the smaller folded size of the 16" wheeled Bromptons without losing the signature fold.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Brompton G Line is Brompton's adventure folding bike featuring larger 20-inch wheels and gravel-ready tires. It's designed for riders who want to go beyond city streets onto mixed terrain trails and longer tours—while still folding in under 20 seconds.

The G Line weighs approximately 30.6-32.6 lbs depending on configuration. Heavier than the 16-inch wheel Bromptons, but the larger wheels and more robust build handle rougher terrain and provide a smoother ride over distance.

The G Line folds to approximately 28 by 26 by 16 inches—larger than the 16-inch wheel Bromptons but still compact enough for most transit systems, car trunks, and apartment storage. It folds in under 20 seconds like all Bromptons.

Wheel size is the main difference: G Line has 20-inch wheels; C Line has 16-inch. The G Line rides more like a traditional bike with better rollover on rough surfaces. The C Line folds smaller and is lighter. Choose G Line for adventure riding; C Line for maximum portability.

The G Line comes with 2.1-inch Schwalbe G-One All Round gravel tires—significantly wider than the 35mm tires on other Bromptons. These tubeless-ready tires handle pavement gravel packed dirt and light trails. The larger air volume provides cushioning and grip. The G Line comes with tubes installed, but we can convert it to a tubeless system upon request.

The G Line uses a Shimano Alfine 8-speed internally geared hub. This provides a wide gear range for hills and varied terrain with the reliability and low maintenance of an internal hub.

Yes. The G Line is Brompton's first model with hydraulic disc brakes. This provides more powerful and consistent stopping especially in wet conditions or when loaded with gear—essential for adventure riding.

The G Line comes in three frame sizes: Small Medium and Large—fitting riders from 5 feet to 6 feet 6 inches. This is different from other Bromptons which use handlebar type and seatpost length to adjust fit.

All standard Brompton front bags (C/P/T Line bags) will fit the G Line, except for the electric-specific bags. Some accessories like toolkits and tool pouches require G Line-specific versions.

Yes. The larger wheels roll more efficiently over distance, the wider tires handle varied surfaces, the disc brakes manage loaded descents, and the 8-speed hub provides range for hills. Combined with Brompton's luggage system, it's a capable light tourer.
