Proofide is the only substance Brooks recommends for caring for their leather saddles—its unique formula is designed to work specifically with Brooks leather to maintain the perfect balance of suppleness and structural integrity.
During the break-in period, Proofide should be applied several times to help the leather mold to your unique anatomy. Once broken in, periodic application every 3-6 months keeps the leather nourished and protected from the elements. The application process is straightforward: apply a thin layer to the finished top side of the leather, allow it to penetrate for at least one hour, then vigorously buff with a clean, soft cloth until a healthy sheen returns. For the underside, leave the coating on to protect against dirt and moisture. While Proofide softens and conditions the leather beautifully, it's important not to over-apply—excessive use can over-soften the leather to the point where it no longer properly supports the rider's weight.
