The Lazer Coyote KinetiCore is a mountain bike helmet built around a straightforward premise: rotational impact protection should be part of the helmet, not bolted on after the fact. KinetiCore shapes the EPS foam itself into controlled crumple zones — blocks and channels that absorb both direct and rotational impact forces while simultaneously allowing more air to move through the interior. The result is a helmet that earned a 5-star "Best Available" rating from Virginia Tech's independent testing program, weighs 340 grams in a size medium, and runs noticeably cooler than conventional foam-shell designs.
On the trail, the details hold up. The TurnSys dial adjusts both circumference and vertical position so fit doesn't require stopping and fussing. A magnetic chin buckle releases one-handed with gloves on. The visor adjusts to three positions and clears the way for goggles, while shell recesses remove pressure from sunglass arms and keep goggle straps from slipping. A hook-and-loop mount at the rear accepts the Universal Lazer LED (sold separately), and the helmet is compatible with the Lazer Winter Kit fleece insert for year-round use.
