The Race Face Chester Pedal is a flat MTB pedal built for riders who want serious grip and a natural foot feel without paying serious money. The composite body is tough enough for trail and all-mountain abuse, the internals are fully serviceable, and every pedal comes backed by Race Face's Lifetime Warranty — crashes included. Chester now comes in two platform sizes so riders of all builds can find the right fit, and in eight colors if that sort of thing matters to you.
The updated design focused on two things: grip and ride feel. Eleven pins per side — nine metal, two co-molded composite — sit at the platform's edge rather than clustering under the foot, and the body was redesigned without the convex bulge around the spindle that's plagued flat pedals for years. What you get instead is a genuinely flat platform that lets your foot sit naturally, with pin placement that keeps it there.
Flat, Fast, and Actually Grippy
- 11 pins per side — nine replaceable metal pins and two co-molded composite pins — positioned around the platform edge for consistent grip without sharp interference during foot repositioning.
- Metal pin tips are intentionally smaller and non-threaded at the tip, making it easier to move your foot when needed and to swap out bent or broken pins after a rough day.
- Redesigned body eliminates the convex bulge around the spindle, giving a genuinely flat platform feel under the ball of your foot.
- Available in two sizes: Small (105 x 100mm) for younger riders or those who prefer a tighter platform, and Large (115 x 110mm) for bigger feet and a wider stance.
- 16mm platform height keeps you close to the pedal axle for better bike feel and lower center of gravity.
- Nylon composite body with chromoly steel axle — tough enough for all-mountain and eMTB use, light enough not to be a liability.
- Fully serviceable internals mean bearings and the axle can be replaced rather than the whole pedal.
