The SON XS Hub Dynamo is purpose-built for the small wheels and narrow fork of Brompton folding bikes. Manufactured in Tübingen, Germany, it uses an optimized claw-pole generator with elaborately machined sheet metal parts to deliver 6V/3W of reliable lighting power with exceptionally low no-load losses — meaning minimal drag whether your lights are on or off. At just 350 g, it adds almost nothing to your fold weight while giving you consistent, battery-free illumination for every commute and night ride.
A proprietary semi-radial spoke pattern keeps the hub compact and elegant while eliminating the audible spoke vibrations that can occur with purely radial lacing on dynamo hubs. High-end SKF bearings sealed on both sides make the hub maintenance-free and long-lasting, and a unique pressure compensation system protects the internals from water ingress in wet riding conditions.
